About Stratford on the River Tourist Park

Our park is pet friendly and surrounded by approximately four acres of well maintained gardens and park-like grounds sited on the banks of the Avon River, which provides for pleasant walks and restful views. We have a range of on-site accommodation to suit every budget, including large shaded powered sites (some drive through) and camping areas, and budget through to our new miner’s cottage style 4 star two bedroom cabins.

The amenities are immaculately clean and are enhanced by a well appointed camp-kitchen complete with television, microwave, fridge and a potbelly stove that adds warmth in the cooler evenings and laundry facilities. The undercover barbecue and eating area together with a number of open fireplaces make wonderful meeting areas and a small playground for younger children is sited close at hand. Picnic tables are readily available for campers to enjoy a meal and socialize while keeping an eye on children at play.
For the marginally more energetic, Apex Park is a short walk away and offers an array of play equipment, small maze and BMX track. Visitors may also access the adjoining council swimming pool when open.

Stratford & Around

The main street of Stratford is only a short stroll away (genuine 5 minute walk) and has a range of shops offering that small country town feel. Don't miss the local award winning bakery and butcher’s (bacon and smallgoods a specialty), various antique and gift shops including exotic Turkish Magic, and of course Molly’s Lolly shop for those sweet of tooth!

Coming from Melbourne, Stratford lies at the beginning of the Gippsland Lakes region and this makes us a good stepping off point for touring and fishing trips of the lakes. Victoria's alpine high country is also within striking distance for a scenic day's drive or walking treks such as McMillan's Track.

Those adventurous soles may consider fossicking for the gems and agates this area is famous for, or even take off on a guided 4WD tour of the old abandoned gold mines and towns in the mountains.

There are many cycling routes around the area including the Maffra to Stratford section of the Gippsland Plains Rail trail. Golfers can also take their fill on the numerous courses within a short drive.
